The 1986 Master Plan was the result of a planning effort approved at the Spring 1986 meeting of the Berea College Board of Trustees. Berea College Fire Department

Abstract

Starting in 1899, a fire brigade made up of students and known as the "Bucket Brigade," was established on campus and responded to calls both on and off campus. Formally established in 1905 by the College, the Fire Department served the campus and the city and was staffed by students. In 1966, the City of Berea took over responsibilities for operating the fire department ending what many affectionally referred to as the "College Fire Department."
