Map of the Village of Berea, circa 1880
A manuscript plat "Map of the Village of Berea" drawn in ink on parchment created around 1880(?). On the reverse of the map is a blank Berea College diploma.
Middletown School, 1991
Seven black and white 5 x 7 inch photographs of Middletown School taken in 1991 prior to renovation of the building and grounds by Berea College. Middletown Consolidated School was a Rosenwald schoolhouse built for the use of African American children in 1927.

Pencil drawing on paper by JHC. Removed from acidic wood frame and backing board May 2024. In deframing the item, several pages of Estyle D. Hanson's algebra homework were discovered in the backing materials. Hanson was the grandson of Berea College founder J. G. Hanson.
Progress Club Collection
Established in Berea in 1907 as the Priscilla Club, the club’s name was changed to the Progress Club in 1915. The club remains an active Berea women's club.
Richard Sears Research Collection
Richard D. Sears was Professor of English and Theatre, 1967-2010, and the Chester D. Tripp Chair in Humanities at Berea College. He has published numerous books and articles on various aspects of Kentucky history including the abolitionist movement, Camp Nelson, and Madison County. In particular, Sears devoted many years to researching and writing about the origins of Berea College and it founding members and families.
