Scope and Contents

This series comprises two linen-backed folding maps from the Library of Dr. George Edmund Haynes of Mt. Vernon, New York. It is not known how Dr. Charles acquired the maps or how he may have used them in his research or teaching. George E. Haynes (1880-1960) was an author, educator, social scientist, and organizer. From 1910-1917, Haynes served as the first Executive Secretary of the National Urban League.
