Abstract
Dr. Drake established Appalachian Notes in 1972-1973 as a quarterly publication that primarily featured book reviews and articles about Appalachia. He served as editor until 1979. Thomas Ford and Lawrence Thompson of the University of Kentucky both served as assistant editors during those years. After Drake stepped down, Appalachian Notes continued publication under other editorship through 1985.
