The Lexington-Bluegrass Army depot (LBAD) was created in the early 1940s. It was not until the mid-1960s that the Army started storing nerve agent weapons at the site. Clara Chassell Cooper (1893–1993), an author of several books and psychologist, served as Head of the Berea College Department of Psychology from 1951 to 1961. Cooper is perhaps best known in Berea College history as the originator and librettist of the Children of God Oratorio.

This study collection comprises seventeen written works that were created between 1121 and 1792. These items were collected by Hutchins Library for use as educational resources in the Special Collections and Archives department. They were described as a unit in 2024 to enhance discovery and use.
