Coal Vertical Files
This collection of materials-with different provenance-was assembled and organized by Hutchins Library and Special Collections staff. The collection contains a variety of materials (including clippings, writings, brochures, publications, and reports) documenting the history and culture of coal mining in the Appalachian region of the United States.

"Col. Daniel Boon" hand-colored print copy 66 of 392 by H. David Wright and Ted Franklin Belue published in 1992 by Pathfinder Press with certificate of authenticity and page of historical notes. This print is a reproduction of an original 1820 engraving by Chester Harding and James Otto Lewis.
Collection of Dan Short prints and paintings
This collection comprises two small paintings and ten nature prints (9 subjects) made from original paintings by Dan Short (1951-1988). Short was a wildlife artist from Whitesburg, Kentucky, and Ripley, Ohio, who studied biology and art at Berea College.

Collection of twelfth through eighteenth century manuscripts
This study collection comprises seventeen written works that were created between 1121 and 1792. These items were collected by Hutchins Library for use as educational resources in the Special Collections and Archives department. They were described as a unit in 2024 to enhance discovery and use. One codex and seven book leaves have been digitized. Researchers may view these images by accessing the individual records and activiating the recto (front) and verso (back) links.
