Historic Boone Tavern was built in 1909 at the suggestion of Nellie Frost, wife of Berea College president, William G. Frost. Named for Appalachian hero Daniel Boone has hosted visitors of Berea, Kentucky including the Dalai Lama, Henry Ford, President and Mrs. Calvin Coolidge, Eleanor Roosevelt, Maya Angelou, and Robert Frost.

Sixteen audio recordings of interviews, reminiscences, speeches, and alumni events relating to former Buckhorn School students and staff. They were mainly from the early to mid 1900s when the Perry County, Kentucky, school was known as Witherspoon College. The recordings were made by 1941 graduate Mike Duff. Also are six interviews with Custer Reynolds recorded in 2002 by Buckhorn graduate Jim Moore.

Kazee was born August 29, 1900 in the quite rural Burton Fork area of Magoffin County, Kentucky. Baptist Christianity, home made music, and classical commercial recordings were important influences in Kazee’s upbringing. He was singing and playing banjo by age 5 and was ordained to preach at age 17.
