A hand-written note accompanies the leaf: "A leaf of the Vitas Patrum printed by Wynkyn de Worde in 1495. Given to me by W. Maskell May 21st 1881 Geo. Bulten." Caxton was the translator of this work, not the printer.

This study collection is a gathering of printed book leaves, page fragments and broadsides from the handpress era (1451-1820) and from later handpress revivals. These resources may be of interest to persons studying book history, the history of printing, typography, languages, literature and design.

Broadside advertising a reward for "Two Negro Men named George and Clem" who "ran awy from the subscriber, on Tuesday, the 29th, ult." The subscriber was Samuel Phillips of Laurel, Delaware. Ink inscription in the lower left corner: "Presented by F. H. Dart."
