Abstract
This collection comprises photographs, certificates, plaques, writings, and audio-visual recordings created primarily in the 1970s to 1990s. These resources document the life and accomplishments of educator and economist Juanita M. Kreps (1921-2010), a Berea College and Duke University graduate who served as the first female U.S. Secretary of Commerce.

Scope and Contents
From the Series:
The first series contains individual portraits, group portraits, and pictures of events such as Dr. Kreps’s trip to China to lead trade negotiations. Many of the photograph are from the corporate boards on which she served. Most are large format photographs and were originally framed when they were received by Berea College. In 2020 and 2021 all photographs were removed from their frames to aid with preservation, access, and conservation of storage space. Some folders house more than one...
