Biographical Note
Donor John Russell Burch, Sr. (1945-2012) was the great-great-grandson of William and Malinda Mays Burch, residents of Barren Creek, Tennessee, who married around 1834 and moved to Island City, Kentucky, in 1858. Two of their sons and one of their sons-in-law served in the U.S. Army infantry during the American Civil War.

Abstract
The John Russell Burch family papers and photographs is a small collection of materials about William Burch (1814-1887), Malinda ("Millie") Mays Burch (1815- circa 1899) and their descendants. The collection includes copies of family group records forms, a tax receipt, military records, and family photographs.
