Wright biplane, Farman biplane, General Joffre, 1908-1910, 1922 April 19
Scope and Contents
Six black and white photographic prints.
1-5: Wright and Farman biplanes. Three have inscriptions: "Wright-Bi-Plane," "Farman Biplane, Squantum, Mass 1908," "Above: Wright Biplane; pilot, Johnston [Johnstone]; Below: Farman Biplane; pilot Graham White with Mayor Fitzerald in it. Harvard Aviation Meet, Squantum, Mass. 1908." Two photographs have no inscriptions. Two of the images show mock battleships in the midst of the flying field. This and the Squantum Field location suggest that the images are from 1910 rather than 1908. Model A Wright Flyer? Model AB Wright Flyer?
6: General Joffre at Grant's Tomb, N.Y. City / April 19, '22."
