Scope and Contents
Twenty-six 8 x 10 photographs with jpeg files on a CD. The photos were made by Marty Godbey at the 1979 Berea College Celebration of Traditional Music. Persons in the photos are The Morgans string band consisting of Frank Godbey-mandolin, Mary Morgan-autoharp, Tom Morgan-guitar, and Leon Hodge-banjo. Others included are early country music performers, fiddler Curly Fox and singere / banjo player Wade Mainer with his wife Julia Mainer.

Abstract
Steve Ledford started playing fiddle at age seven and performed extensively in his home community with his father and sisters. In 1929 as part of the Carolina Ramblers String Band, he played on radio in New York City where the group also made 20 recordings for the American Record Company.
In subsequent years, back in North Carolina, he played with several other notable early country music artists including Wade Mainer, Zeke Morris, Clyde Moody, Jay Hugh and Roy Hall. With these musicians,...
