Historical Newspapers Collection
The Historic Newspaper Collection currently includes more than 450 issues of papers from 72 individual newspaper titles published in the United States from 1770 to 1970. The collection primarily includes newspapers printed in the 1850’s and 1860’s, during World War I and World War II, and during times of significant world events.
The Emancipator, Vol. 3, No. 15, 1838 August 9
The first series comprises two folders of eighteenth century printed works on slavery, abolition, emancipation, the assassination of President Lincoln, post-war reconstruction of the Union, civil rights, and African re-settlement of former slaves. Arrangement within the series is chronological.
