Berea Publishing Company

Abstract

The Berea Publishing Company (one time publisher of the Berea Citizen) was incorporated in the state of Kentucky on November 18th, 1904.  The three original stokeholders were Louis Hinman, William G. Frost, and B.E. Cartmell, all of Berea.  The first President of the corporation was William G. Frost.

Scope and Contents

The Historic Newspaper Collection currently includes more than 450 issues of papers from 72 individual newspaper titles published in the United States from 1770 to 1970.  The collection primarily includes newspapers printed in the 1850’s and 1860’s, during World War I and World War II, and during times of significant world events.

John Fetterman Papers

Abstract Fetterman was a prolific writer on a wide variety of subjects that ranged from the whimsical to the tragic. He is probably best remembered for his stories about the impact on eastern Kentucky of strip mining, the War on Poverty, and Vietnam.
