Oral History Project: Contemporary Appalachian Issues Course, Spring 2021
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of fifteen video recorded interviews concucted by Berea students as part of the Sping 2021 Contemporary Appalachian Issues Course, APS 229. The course was taught by faculty member Chris Green, Director of the Loyal Jones Appalachian Center.
Those interviewed include Berea alumni, faculty and staff who work in settings that in various ways, put into practice Berea’s commitment “to engage Appalachian communities, families, and students in partnership for mutual learning, growth, and service.”
As part of the teaching / learning process, the students transcribed the interviews and selected parts to render into story poems, which appear together in a collection called "Realize What You Love: 15 Bereans Speak about their Lives, their Work, and the Mountains" which can be accessed along with the interviews.
