The personal papers in this collection document many of Ray and Burdetta Woerth’s experiences as Berea College students 1933-1938 and their subsequent marriage in 1938. Themes within the collection include student activities, engagement and marriage, and later participation in Berea College class reunions.

Biographical Note
Raymond F. Woerth graduated from Berea College in 1937 with a B.A. in Geology. His home town was Scribner, Nebraska. Raymond ("Ray") served as Class Treasurer, on the Cooperative Council, and Men's Hall Union. He was a member of Delta Phi Alpha, Rho Delta, Glee Club, College Quartet, Harmonia, German Club, and Y.M.C.A. At Berea Woerth played baseball, speedball, and was on the track team.
Burdetta F. Jordan of Brooksville, Kentucky graduated from Berea College in 1938 with a B.A. in Home Economics. Her college activities included Home Economics Club, YWCA, and Harmonia.
Burdetta and Raymond married in October of 1938.
A member of the Kentucky Academy of Science, Ray Woerth became a professional Geologist and worked many years for Harbison Walker Refractories Company of Fulton, Missouri. In Fulton, Woerth was an active member and leader in the Lions Club. Woerth died in Fulton on September 22, 1988.
Burdetta Jordan Woerth died in Ashland, Kentucky, on April 27, 2002. She had been involved with the Board of Associates of Fulton College and was a member of the LeTourneau College Council, the Fulton Woman’s Club, Girl Scouts, Parent Teachers Association, Ladies Aid, and the Berea College President’s Club.

Abstract
This collection of scrapbooks, correspondence, publications, photographs, a personal diary and other documents offers insights into the lives of Raymond F. Woerth and Burdette F. Jordan Woerth, graduates of Berea College. Most of the materials were created in the 1930s.
