The William Goodell Family Papers (Part 2) consist of correspondence of numerous Goodell family members (both between each other and family friends and associates); writings, documents, and photographs of Goodell family members; documents, writings and printed materials of abolitionists; and correspondence, papers, and materials specific to members of the family of William Goodell Frost.

Biographical Note
William Goodell, a native of New York, was a prominent 19th century abolitionist and temperance reformer. Clarissa Maria Goodell Frost, eldest daughter of William and Clarissa Cady Goodell, was the mother of Berea College's third president, William Goodell Frost. Rhoda Lavinia Goodell, her younger sister, became, in 1874, the first woman lawyer admitted to the Wisconsin Bar.

Custodial History
The records of the William Goodell Family Papers, Part 2, were collected by William and Eleanor Frost. They were given by Norman Frost to Sarah Frost Stamps. Photographs in Folders 10-33 of Series 3B, Box 1, were donated to the collection by Beverly Wright.
