Abstract

Part of a Carnegie-sponsored study of liberal arts colleges, the Profiles Project took a close look at a dozen colleges, including Berea. The study was projected to have outcomes including: (1) a book of profiles illustrating the wide variety of effectively operating colleges across the country, and (2) a collection of guidelines for methods of observations for describing and assessing the work of colleges. The project resulted in the 1962 publication of Profile of Berea College 1952-1972.
