County Achievement Contest Records
Scope and Contents
Included in this collection are submissions of the participating counties documenting work accomplished in several areas judged in the competition. The collection also contains a copy of "Manual of the County Achievement Contest for Eastern Kentucky" which provides information regarding the purpose of the contest, areas judged, and judging criteria. Many of the county submissions include photographs and detailed descriptions of work done and resources offered.

Abstract
Promoted by the Berea College Extenstion Department, the County Achievement Contest for Eastern Kentucky was a county-wide contest with the aim of organizing and coordinating the work of counties for greater progress and effieciency. The contest ran from August 1, 1922 through December of 1923 and was developed and organized by Marshall E. Vaughn, Superintendent of Extension at Berea College. Counties participating in the contest include: Breathitt, Owsley, Rockcastle and Jackson.
