Scope and Contents
This collection consists of a group of nineteen photographs taken by Theo Pigg and bound together in a College Loose Leaf Note Book sent to William J. Hutchins compliments of Dr. Pennington and the Rockcastle Home Builder’s Association, Mt. Vernon, KY. Photographs contained within book are of the Brush Creek Valley area of Rockcastle County and include images of a home on the Wilderness Trail, a three room box house, a crew of men working on a W.P.A. Project, a church and adjoining parsonage, a farm house, mule and carriages, country roads and creeks, school houses, a tenant house, farms land and fields, a mining town, a cemetery, a mountain preacher, and the Climax Region.
The collection of photographs was taken for the purpose of appealing for “religious and educational help and a Re-settlement Project” and are photographs of the Brush Creek Valley of Rockcastle County, Kentucky. A biography and census of the area is included with the pictures as well as a biography and photograph of the photographer, Theo Pigg.
