Personal Correspondence, 1942-1986

The correspondence series is divided into two distinct categories. The first contains Smith’s correspondence, which relates to college affairs. It covers from 1937-87. The second category is Smith’s collection of personal correspondence. It covers from 1942-86. More correspondence can be found in Series VI; the correspondence in this section is entirely related to the publication of chapter nine of Berea’s First Century.
