Scope and Contents
Consists of official (incoming and outgoing) correspondence. The correspondence reflects the general administration of Berea College during the presidency of Francis S. Hutchins. Included in the series is correspondence with representatives of other colleges and educational institutions; foundations; Berea College trustees, faculty, staff, and students; and donors of funds including businesses, industries, and individual contributors. Note: A large portion of correspondence prior to 1961 has been lost, thus making documentation for the period from 1939 to 1961 relatively light.
