"Rubber Band Gum,"
Scope and Contents
This series consists of hundreds of photographic images produced as documentation for Fetterman’s articles. Photographic formats represented include numerous 35-mm color transparencies, 35-mm and 120 size contact prints and 8x10 enlargements. There are also numerous 120 and 35-mm negatives without prints. Arrangement is alphabetical by subject. For photographic prints related to the publication of Stinking Creek see Series 5.
The identity of the photographer is not always clear. Fetterman’s name appears on a large number of the images. Others are identified as being made by Courier-Journal and Louisville Times staff photographers Bill Strode and C. Thomas Hardin. Still others are identified only as Courier-Journal and Louisville Times photographs. Jonathan Blair is listed as photographer for “On the Road with an Old-Time Circus,” but his name nor Fetterman’s appear on any of that articles 35-mm slides. Bruce Dale was the photographer for “The People of Cumberland Gap.” All of that article’s slides bear Fetterman’s name. In the published article some of the photos are credited to Dale and others to Fetterman.
Copyright: The Louisville Courier-Journal holds the copyright to photographs used by Fetterman to illustrate articles produced for the newspaper.
