Luise West/Lexington Files: Student American Medical Association, 1972
Scope and Contents
These files were maintained by Luise West in Lexington. They consist of correspondence, reports, financial records, and newspaper clippings, which document various Fund projects. They also reflect West's involvement in administration of the Fund's investments and a variety of routine duties. These files often augment information found in Board of Trustee minutes, projects and grants correspondence, trustees’ individual files, and Lula Hale’s Homeplace records. Of particular importance are files detailing the Fund's agreements with Appalachian Regional Hospitals, Inc., sale of the Perry County Rural Telephone Company to L.D. Groman, and a 1960 survey of eastern Kentucky private educational institutions by Frederick W. Stamm.
