This collection consists of the official ad personal papers of Berea College's second president, William B. Stuart. Materials include fragmentary correspondence, clippings, and copies of speeches. The collection consists predominantly of photocopied materials which were assembled to produce a fuller reference source on Stewart's presidency. Included are fragmentary correspondence of John G. Fee with E. P. Fairchild; statements made by Board of Trustees members concerning the hiring and, subsequently, the resignation of Stewart; a copy of Stewart's inaugural address; copies of clippings concerning Stewart's career and death; and a copy of Stewart's presidential report to the Board of Trustees for the 1890-1891 school year.
