Biographical / Historical
James Sherburne (1946–2018) was a multifaceted individual from Ann Arbor, Michigan, known for his vibrant personality and diverse life experiences. A 1964 graduate of Ann Arbor High School, he left school early to sail the Great Lakes as a merchant seaman. Self-taught in music, Sherburne was a passionate blues musician who frequently performed at local venues, including Mr. Flood's Party and The Blind Pig. He worked as a bus driver for the Ann Arbor Transportation Authority (AATA) and later became the proud owner-operator of AA Hauling Co. Sherburne was also known for his natural salesmanship, holding various sales positions throughout his life. He passed away on January 1, 2018, and was survived by his two children, brother, brother-in-law, niece, and other family members. A celebration of his life was held on March 17, 2018, at the Washtenaw Alano Club, reflecting his legacy of laughter, storytelling, and music. (Legacy.com)(Written with AI assitance, 2025)
