2. Paul Gilroy letter to bell hools, dated "Thursday 24/5." Hand-written in black ink, 1 sheet (2 pages, recto and verso). "Dear Bell, Sitting in my office on a sunny morning contemplating...."
3. Paul Gilroy letter to bell hooks, not dated, circa 1990. Computer printed, hand signed "P." 2 sheets (3 pages). "My dear Dr Watkins, I went to see Albert King last night."
4. Paul Gilroy letter to bell hooks, not dated, on University of Essex letterhead. Typescript, 1 sheet, recto only. "My Dear Glawr, This is just an interim note to let you know...."
5. Paul Gilroy letter to bell hooks, dated "Sunday 9th Feb." (perhaps 1992?). Computer printed, hand signed, 3 sheets (3 pages, rectos only.) "My dear friend, A chorus of Gwen's accusatory question...."
6. Paul Gilroy card to bell hooks dated "Sunday." Hand-written message on verso of a picture post card of Sly Stone. "Dear Glor, Add this card to your representations of Black genius file."
7. Paul Gilroy card to bell hooks, not dated. Hand-written message on verso of a picture post card of Josephine Baker. "An unappealing portrait of Josephine at the height of her anti-Nazi scheming."
8. Paul Gilroy card to bell hooks, not dated. Hand-written on verso of a picture post card of of an untitled 1983 artwork by Keith Haring. "When we talked about music the other week...."
9. Paul Gilroy(?) card to bell hooks, not dated. Hand-written on verso of a picture post card of James Baldwin. "Dear Gloria-I found this article to be very disturbing...." Note: in a different hand than the other three cards (script). All others are printed. Signature very unlike other examples.
