Scope and Contents

This series consists of original minidisc and DAT interview recordings relating to the Klines' work during 2003 producing a spoken audio history documenting changes in tobacco culture after the Maryland State Tobacco Buyout of 2000. The audio history was entitled “Born and Raised in Tobacco Fields.” It was part of an oral history project conducted for the Calvert County Historic District Commission that was supported by funding from the Maryland Historical Trust.

The collection can be accessed through the Reading Room, Berea College Special Collections and Archives, Hutchins Library, Berea College. Some portions of the collection are restricted from research use. Those materials are marked in the inventory.
