Abstract

Bruce Fairchild Barton (August 5, 1886 – July 5, 1967) was an author, advertising executive, and politician. He served in the U.S. Congress from 1937 to 1940 as a Republican from New York.  Barton enrolled in Berea College during 1903 and later transferred to Amherst College in Massachusetts, where he graduated in 1907.

Abstract William E. Barton attended Berea College from 1880 to 1885 (B.S.) and married Esther Treat Bushnell—a Berea elementary teacher—upon graduation from college. Barton was a circuit pastor in Robbins, Tennessee, until 1887.   From 1887 through 1890 Barton was a pastor in Litchfield, Ohio, while taking courses at Oberlin Theological School.
