Abstract John Kessler was commanding officer(first executive officer) of the V-12 officer training school unit at Berea College during WWII.  Kessler also worked to organize reunions of V-12 alumni following the War. Abstract Louis Smith came to Berea as an instructor in 1927 and served as the college's Dean of the Upper Division before serving as Dean of the College from 1947 to 1969.
