Scope and Contents The collection consists of audio compact disc recordings and transcripts of sixteen interviews recorded by Tom Chase in 2008. Elisabeth Sinclair Peck Papers

Abstract

Elisabeth Sinclair Peck joined the Berea College faculty in 1912 and taught history until her retirement in 1953.  Upon her retirement, she was appointed college historian by President Weatherford.  She served in this role until her death in 1968.  A prolific writer, Peck published numerous books on a range of topics—many involving the history and work of Berea College.

Abstract Emily Ann Smith served as a Berea College Faculty member from 1930 until 1986 which included her tenure as secretary to the President, English professor, and Chairman of the English Department. Smith, a native of Mayfield, KY, graduated from Randolph-Macon Women’s College in 1925 and Columbia Teachers College in 1930.
