Abstract

The Administrative Committee is responsible to the Board of Trustees and the President of the College for matters of finance, physical properties and internal management of the College. Members of the committee oversee all instructional and operating departments of the institution. The very first meeting of the Administrative Committee took place on October 5, 1937 under President Francis S. Hutchins.

Lyle D. Roelofs Papers

Abstract

Dr. Lyle D. Roelofs is the ninth President of Berea College. He began his service as President of the College on July 1, 2012. The President’s Office is responsible for providing leadership, planning and oversight for all divisions and activities of the College through the Dean of the Faculty and five Vice Presidents (Academic, Alumni and College Relations, Operations and Sustainability, Finance, and Labor and Student Life).

Abstract

Richard D. Sears was Professor of English and Theatre, 1967-2010, and the Chester D. Tripp Chair in Humanities at Berea College.  He has published numerous books and articles on various aspects of Kentucky history including the abolitionist movement, Camp Nelson, and Madison County.  In particular, Sears devoted many years to researching and writing about the origins of Berea College and it founding members and families.
